Job summary

The VA Central Iowa Health Care System is recruiting a full-time Advanced Practice Nurse (NP) in Oncology/Hematology to provide comprehensive care to Veterans. The APN will deliver expert consultation, develop individualized treatment plans, educate patients and families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics may be required; board certification and ongoing education are expected.

Qualifications

• APN/NP with oncology/hematology experience.
• Board-certified NP—ongoing education expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation and treatment for hematology/oncology patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on conditions and self-management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team; participate in meetings.
• Document care in the EMR; may travel to clinics.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
