Job summary

The VA Central Iowa Healthcare System in Des Moines is recruiting one full-time Advanced Practice Nurse specialized in Gastroenterology/Hepatology to provide advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management for Veterans.

You will develop and implement treatment plans, perform comprehensive evaluations, educate patients and families, collaborate with the care team, document in the EMR, and may travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics as needed.

Qualifications

• Advanced Practice Nurse with GI/Hepatology expertise and board certification.
• Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Strong communication with patients, families and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with GI conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations including history and physical exams.
• Interpret labs and diagnostic tests and follow up promptly.
• Develop and implement individualized GI treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on conditions and self-management.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
• Document care in the EMR and participate in quality improvement.
