Job summary

The VA Central Iowa Healthcare System is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Nurse in Gastroenterology. The APN will provide expert clinical practice, consultation, and management in the Gastroenterology/Hepatology Service to support quality care and advance the VA mission.

Please note: duties include patient evaluations, treatment planning, education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, with potential travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with GI conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering of diagnostic labs and tests.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for GI conditions.
• Provide patient and family education regarding GI conditions and self-management strategies.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
