University Hospital in Newark, NJ seeks a Medical Technologist – Hematology to independently perform routine and complex laboratory analyses with precision and accuracy. This role includes teaching and supervising under leadership, delivering timely and reliable results to physicians.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field, with ASCP certification preferred. Compensation ranges by NJ standards, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field (required).
• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with SOPs and departmental standards.
• Analyze and report results with timely communication of critical values (within 15 minutes) and prioritization of STAT specimens.
• Conduct and document quality control procedures; troubleshoot and resolve deviations or equipment issues.
• Perform scheduled equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting; log actions per SOP.
• Prepare, maintain, and monitor reagent and supply inventory; ensure proper storage to prevent workflow interruptions.
• Participate in teaching and training programs for students and staff as needed.
• Maintain productivity standards while complying with hospital safety and regulatory requirements.
• Stay current with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
