Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Lab CMMC Clinical Pathology team in New Jersey. The role focuses on accurate, timely laboratory testing that supports patient diagnosis and treatment, operating sophisticated instrumentation, and collaborating with physicians and nurses to ensure high-quality care.

Responsibilities include testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank, plus QA, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• 1 year experience in a hospital setting laboratory preferred.
• Blood Bank experience preferred.
• ASCP Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, complex, and specialized laboratory testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood bank.
• Analyze, verify, and report test results according to policies and procedures.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance.
• Complete quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing per standards.
• Review specimen integrity and ensure proper testing requirements are met.
• Follow safety protocols and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP).
• Utilize LIS to enter, review, and report patient results accurately.
• Document testing and instrument maintenance and corrective actions.
