Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The person in this position is a licensed Medical Technologist (MT) responsible for specimen processing, analysis, and results reporting on a day-to-day basis. The role involves performing standard duties of a Medical Technologist with assistance from the Medical Technologist III Lead.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Receive and process specimens according to department protocols.
2. Design and update procedures to maximize testing efficiency and accuracy.
3. Assist the Supervisor, Manager, and Director with administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
4. Follow all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures outlined in manuals.
5. Produce, interpret, and report accurate test results.
6. Identify and resolve issues that may affect test performance or result reporting.
7. Communicate relevant information or issues to supervisors or appropriate staff.
8. Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshoot methods as needed.
9. Contribute to documentation and maintenance of effective QA/QC programs.
10. Collaborate with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
11. Comply with the Corporate Compliance Program and all policies, including Privacy and Security policies.
12. Meet productivity expectations set by departmental guidelines.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical lab science or medical technology.
2. Valid ASCP or AMT certification required.
3. Maintain ongoing continuing education for certification and licensure.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. One year of relevant experience preferred.
2. Students or recent graduates eligible for ASCP or AMT certification exams are encouraged to apply.
