Job summary

Merck seeks a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) to lead planning and execution of clinical research in Oncology, Hematology. This role spans pre-clinical to post-licensure stages, overseeing study design, initiation, execution, analysis, regulatory reporting and publication.

The incumbent will provide medical leadership, collaborate with regulatory, statistics and manufacturing teams, and engage scientifically across internal and external partners to advance marketed and investigational

Qualifications

• Must have experience in industry or senior faculty in academia.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical medicine experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in drug development or biomedical research experience in academia.
• Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement.
• Proven track record in clinical medicine and background in biomedical research.
• Strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to function in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan clinical trials (designing, coordinating with operational plans).
• Provide medical oversight and conduct of ongoing or new clinical trials.
• Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety, efficacy decisions, regulatory reports or publications.
• Collaborate with internal/external research teams for development of new compounds and studies.
• Support business development assessments of external opportunities.
• Engage with cross-functional teams to support study execution.
• Travel about 20% of the time to manage projects.
