Job summary

The Birmingham Department of Veterans Affairs, a major teaching affiliate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, seeks a full-time Hematologist/Oncologist to join our growing team.

This VA position blends clinical care with teaching responsibilities, and offers opportunities to shape oncology services for Veterans in Alabama. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, participate in tumor boards, and contribute to the development of a new clinical trials program.

Qualifications

• United States citizenship requirement applies per VA policy.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state or territory.
• Board eligibility or certification in oncology and/or hematology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as core faculty for the UAB Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program with teaching and supervision of fellows.
• Provide high quality patient care in oncology/hematology within the Birmingham VA system.
• Participate in the inpatient consult service and infusion center oversight during clinical sessions.
• Engage in multidisciplinary Cancer Committee and tumor boards.
• Contribute to quality improvement and program development, including potential clinical trials.
