Job summary

Wastequip is seeking a Helper/Cleaner/Finisher in Beeville, TX to clean, grind, and sand surfaces prior to painting. The role runs on 1st shift (6:00AM–3:30PM) with a pay rate of $14.51 per hour. The position supports welders, sets up weld tables, and handles material movement and basic maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include inspecting surfaces, selecting abrasives, polishing finished areas, and assisting with sub-assembly work as needed. Benefits are offered to regular full-time employees.

Qualifications

• Experience grinding and finishing metal surfaces to prepare for painting.
• Ability to set up and operate grinders and abrasive wheels safely.
• Awareness of surface defects and quality standards during finishing.

Responsibilities

• Examine surface quality and feel for defects on workpieces.
• Select and attach appropriate abrasive wheel or disk to grinder.
• Operate grinder to remove scratches, excess welds, and burrs.
• Polish finished areas to produce smooth, unmarred surfaces.
• Replace worn abrasive disks and wheels as needed.
• Assist welders with non-welding prep and material setup.
• Set up weld table with materials for welders.
• Lift and load materials using hoists, cranes, or forklift.
• Assist in moving heavy workpieces during operations.
• Perform sub-assembly work when required.
• Use bracing and measurement tools for alignment.
• Assist in bolting metal components.
• Perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
• Clean workpieces with grinder or scraper.

Job Description: Wastequip is recruiting for a Helper/Cleaner/Finisher in our Beeville, TX location, who cleans, grinds, and sands surfaces of component and or finished raw product prior to painting. Pay rate: $14.51. 1st shift: 6:00AM to 3:30PM.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Examines and feels surface of workpiece for defects


• Selects abrasive wheel, or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attaches to grinder


• Starts grinder and moves it over surface of workpiece to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burs


• Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface


• Replaces worn abrasive disks wheels


• Assist the welders with non-welding functions in preparation for welding.


• sets up weld table with material for welders


• Lift and load work materials into positions as directed using hoists, cranes, or forklift


• Assist welders in loading or moving heavy work pieces during work operations


• Performs sub assembly work as needed
