Job summary

Wastequip is seeking a manual fabrication associate in Fontana, CA to assist in fabricating steel components for waste handling systems. Under direct supervision, you will set up and operate equipment, read blueprints, and verify part dimensions while maintaining safety practices on a fast-paced shop floor.

The role emphasizes manual lifting, equipment adjustment, and alignment tasks; forklift and crane involvement may be required, with focus on quality and timely output.

Qualifications

• 1+ years prior production experience.
• Prior experience operating a Press Brake and/or Shear and set up experience a plus.
• Understanding of basic CNC controls.
• Ability to read blue prints and measuring tape.
• Basic math and problem solving skills.
• Experience in a fast paced production environment a plus.
• Experience operating a forklift a plus.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate steel and other metal parts as indicated by the work order and blue prints.
• Position and clamp, stops, and side guides to set length and angle of cut.
• Turn handwheels to adjust rake and blade pressure.
• Lift workpiece manually or by hoist/crane and position it on bed or table.
• Lay out cutting and bending lines on metal for shearing/bending.
• Tilt bed, blade, or fixtures to shear, bevel, or trim items.
• Inspect work to verify dimensions.
• Maintain clean area at end of shift.
• Pass all EHS tests and clearances.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, assists in the fabrication of steel parts and tools to be used in the waste manufacturing process. Pay rate: $19.18

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Fabricate steel and other metal parts as indicated by the work order and blue prints Positions and clamps, stops, and side guides to set length and angle of cut May turn handwheels to adjust rake (angle) and pressure of blade Lifts workpiece manually or by hoist or crane to machine bed or roller table and positions it against side guide and end stops. Lays out cutting lines on metal when shearing single pieces Lays out bending lines on metal when bending single pieces Tilts bed, blade, or installs fixtures to shear, bevel, or trim fabricated items Inspects work to verify dimensions Clean area at end of shift Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned by the supervisor or lead. Successfully pass all EHS required tests and clearances

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Position will require standing at all times Position will require the ability to lift up to 50 lbs most of the time and over 50 lbs occasionally. Position will require pushing and pulling most of the time. Position will have exposure to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, oil, and grease at all times. Position will have exposure to smoke at times
