Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking a dependable Help Desk Technician in Sterling, VA to provide day-to-day IT support for employees. You will handle tickets, troubleshoot hardware and software, configure devices, and assist with onboarding and access management.

The role supports Windows OS, MS 365, networking basics, and mobile devices, with opportunities to grow in a fast-paced environment. Join a collaborative team and contribute to secure, reliable IT services.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of help desk or IT support experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and common business applications.
• Familiarity with computer hardware, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
• Experience with iOS and Android devices.
• Familiarity with remote access and remote support tools.
• Experience using help desk or ticketing systems.
• Basic networking, Wi‑Fi, user accounts, and access permissions.

Responsibilities

• Respond to tickets, calls, emails, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, OS, and mobile device issues.
• Set up, configure, and maintain computers, printers, tablets, phones, and other devices.
• Install and update software and operating systems.
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding, including accounts and device setup.
• Support Microsoft 365 applications and other business software.
• Assist with password resets and access permissions.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity and remote access issues.
• Provide support for iOS and Android devices.
• Maintain inventory records of IT equipment and assets.
• Document common issues and IT procedures.
• Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors.
