Job summary

Arkansas State University–Beebe is seeking a Help Desk Technician to provide Tier 1 and most Tier 2 hardware and software support to faculty, staff and students by telephone and email, as well as in-person support for university-owned equipment.

This role also covers installation, configuration and support of all university computers, printers, related hardware and software, with ticketing responsibilities and collaboration within the ITS team to resolve issues efficiently.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred in Computer Science or closely related field; substitutions allowed with education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to queries by phone, via email, in person, or through remote access.
• Provide Tier 1 and most Tier 2 hardware and software support to ASU Beebe faculty, staff and students.
• Install, configure and support university computers, printers, related hardware and university owned software.
• Enter information into the Helpdesk ticket system.
• Maintain professionalism when working with clients; escalate tickets and complaints as needed.
• Assist other ITS team members on assignments and projects as needed.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Arkansas State University–Beebe, a two-year residential community college within the Arkansas State University System, is seeking to fill (2) positions. The Help Desk Technician is responsible for all Tier 1 and most Tier 2 hardware and software support to all ASU Beebe faculty, staff and students by telephone and email as well as in person support for faculty and staff on university owned computer equipment. This position is also responsible for the installation, configuration and support of all university computers, printers, related hardware and university owned software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responding to queries on the phone, via email, in person, or through remote access
• Offering technical assistance on the delivery, configuration, set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer systems, hardware, and software
• Enter information into the Helpdesk ticket system
• Maintain professionalism when working with clients
• Escalate tickets to the next level as needed
• Escalate complaints to the next level as needed
• Assist other ITS team members on assignments and projects as needed
• Other ITS duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

An Associate’s degree is preferred in Computer Science or closely related field. Relevant education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement; plus a minimum of one year related experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver’s license in good standing is required due to the this position regularly driving university vehicles.
