Job summary

JB Harris Transportation LLC is seeking a highly organized Heavy Haul Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the transportation of oversized and overweight loads. The role is office-based with occasional travel to customer sites or hubs.

You will develop routes, coordinate with customers, drivers, and third-party carriers, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while using dispatch software and GPS tools to monitor shipments and schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of dispatching experience, preferably in heavy equipment or specialized transportation.
• Strong understanding of transportation logistics, routing, and regulatory requirements for oversized loads.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with quick decision-making.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in using dispatch software, GPS systems, and other transportation management tools.
• Licenses and certifications in transportation logistics or dispatching are a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; education in logistics or transportation management preferred.

• Dispatch Operations: Coordinate the daily scheduling and dispatching of heavy haul trucks, ensuring efficient transportation of loads.
• Route Planning: Develop and optimize transportation routes, considering load dimensions, weight, road restrictions, and permits.
• Load Coordination: Work with customers, drivers, and third-party carriers to schedule and manage heavy haul loads.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure shipments comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including permits and escorts for oversized loads.
• Communication: Maintain clear updates with drivers, customers, and stakeholders during transport.
• Problem Solving: Resolve delays, equipment breakdowns, and route changes quickly.
• Documentation: Maintain records of dispatch activities, load details, driver assignments, rights to routes and compliance.
• Safety: Promote safe transportation practices and ensure drivers follow protocols.
• Technology Utilization: Use dispatch software and tools to track shipments and driver locations.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including obtaining necessary permits and escorts for oversized loads.
• Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders to provide real-time updates and address any issues that arise during transport.
• Problem Solving: Quickly and effectively resolve any transportation-related issues, including delays, equipment breakdowns, and route changes.
• Documentation: Accurately maintain records of all dispatch activities, including load details, driver assignments, route plans, and regulatory compliance documentation.
• Safety: Promote and enforce safe transportation practices, ensuring all drivers adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
• Technology Utilization: Utilize dispatch software and other technological tools to manage and track shipments, driver locations, and delivery schedules.
