Job summary

Mid-City Scrap, LLC. is seeking a Welder to perform welding, cutting, and fabrication to support daily operations at our Westport, MA scrap metal facility.

The role focuses on equipment repair, structural reinforcement, and fabrication for mobile and stationary equipment and yard infrastructure. The ideal candidate has MIG, stick welding experience, can work safely in an outdoor industrial setting, and understands heavy equipment in a recycling operation.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years welding experience with MIG and stick welding.
• Experience welding heavy gauge steel.
• Welding certifications preferred.
• MA 2A1C hoisting licensing a plus.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and stick welding on carbon steel and structural components.
• Torch cut and prepare metal equipment.
• Fabricate and repair: scrap boxes, containers, hoppers, guards, brackets, frames, walkways, handrails, and supports.
• Structural repairs on conveyors, balers, and processing equipment.
• Reinforce worn or damaged equipment components to extend service life.
• Assist maintenance team with repairs on processing equipment and mobile components.
• Support preventive maintenance and emergency repair work as needed.
• Follow OSHA, LOTO procedures, and company safety policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
• Identify unsafe conditions and report hazards immediately.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
• Coordinate with operations to minimize production downtime.
