Job summary

M&M Recycling is seeking an experienced Maintenance Welder/Fabricator to join our team at a busy scrap metal recycling facility. This role focuses on after-hours maintenance and repairs to keep a heavy-duty shredder and supporting equipment up and running.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, can work independently, and has a minimum of 5 years of industrial welding experience, including Stick welding and heavy fabrication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of industrial welding experience.
• Experience with Stick welding.
• Experience repairing heavy equipment, crushers, shredders, mining equipment, or steel mills preferred.
• Ability to operate oxy-fuel cutting torches, plasma cutters, and air arc gouging equipment.
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable transportation and excellent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and wear-plate welding on shredder components.
• Repair conveyors, hoppers, chutes, and heavy steel structures.
• Replace liners, wear plates, shafts, and other worn components.
• Fabricate parts as needed to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and measurements.
• Inspect equipment and identify potential failures before they occur.
• Perform cutting, gouging, grinding, and fabrication work.
• Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Be available for emergency breakdown repairs when necessary, after hours and on weekends.
