Job summary

The Maine Department of Transportation is seeking personnel for the Fleet Services Yard in Augusta, ME. The role involves maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and facilities across infrastructure projects, with heavy equipment operation and demanding hours.

Candidates must be 18+, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to obtain a Class A CDL with Haz-Mat endorsement within 12 months, plus a Class B license within six months. State benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Class B Maine driver’s license within six months.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL with Haz-Mat endorsement within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform transportation infrastructure maintenance on vehicles, equipment, buildings, bridges, grounds and roadways.
• Operate hand tools and related heavy equipment to perform assigned duties.
• Work long hours under adverse conditions as part of the Yard Crew at Fleet Services.
• Possess the ability to obtain CDL with Haz-Mat endorsement and to complete required certifications.
