Job summary

Joe Johnson Equipment, operating as Kinloch Equipment & Supply, is seeking a skilled technician in Pharr, Texas to diagnose and repair heavy-duty municipal equipment including vac trucks, hydro vacs, street sweepers, and refuse/recycling trucks.

You will work closely with our Service Writer and Parts team to maintain equipment readiness, perform preventative maintenance, and uphold a clean, safety-focused workspace. Valid CDL and 3+ years' experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Education from an accredited technical school in diesel engines/hydraulics or heavy equipment preferred but not required.
• 3+ years’ experience as a mechanic/technician.
• Valid driver’s license and clean abstract.
• Experience with hydraulic and/or electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and mechanical repairs on heavy-duty municipal equipment.
• Work on vac trucks, hydro vacs, street sweepers, refuse/recycling trucks.
• Coordinate with Service Writer and Parts team to ensure efficient service.

About The Role

We are seeking a technician who can perform diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on a broad range of heavy‑duty and specialized municipal equipment, including vac trucks, hydro vacs, street sweepers, and refuse or recycling trucks. This role involves working closely with our Service Writer and Parts team to keep operations running smoothly while carrying out preventative maintenance and maintaining a clean, organized, and safety‑focused workspace.

What You’ll Do

• Perform safety inspections, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on a wide range of heavy-duty and niche municipal equipment.
• Work on vac trucks, hydro vacs, street sweepers, refuse/recycling trucks, and more.
• Collaborate with the Service Writer and Parts team to ensure efficient service.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and maintain a clean, safe workspace.

Compensation

• Competitive hourly rate; based on education and experience
• Quarterly bonus opportunity – up to $1,500.00

Position Details

Location: Pharr, Texas

Status: Permanent

Schedule: Monday-Friday - occasional extended hours may be required based on operational needs.

What You Bring

• Education from an accredited technical school in diesel engine/hydraulics/heavy equipment repair preferred but not required

• Completion of a job‑related background check in accordance with applicable laws
• 3+ years’ experience working in a mechanic / technician role
• Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
