HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

Job Description And Duties

Under the direction of the Correctional Food Manager (CFM) and the indirect supervision of the Assistant Correctional Food Manager (ACFM) and Supervising Correctional Cook (SCC), the Heavy Truck Driver is responsible for daily food deliveries between the Support Warehouse, Central Kitchen and the Satellite Kitchens as instructed. Will adhere to Food Service operations and all general policies and procedures. Coordinate with Custody, Correctional Supervising Cook (CSC) assigned to Storeroom and Distribution. The Heavy Truck Driver will operate the necessary vehicles to facilitate the smooth pick-up and delivery of food service products, equipment and/or as required/directed. Know to compartmentalize materials; example not mixing food and chemicals on the same delivery, etc. Ensure Incarcerated people are trained accordingly when assisting with loading/unloading of the food transport vehicle. Secure vehicle when not present and supervise the dock according to policy/procedures. Search incarcerated people and work areas on a daily basis for contraband. Always monitor the loading/unloading of vehicles. Monitor Central Kitchen stock daily to ensure safe and proper storage methods and inspect for pilferage. Staff may be required to perform other duties as deemed necessary for essential institutional operations.

This is a 12 month Limited Term position that may be extended to 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
