Job summary

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway Superintendent to lead field operations across Georgia. You will oversee crews, subcontractors, and equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery on GDOT projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Heavy Highway Superintendent experience (preferred).
• Proven experience managing DOT highway projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, concrete, paving, utilities, and traffic control.

Responsibilities

• Lead all daily field operations on heavy highway and roadway construction projects.

As one of the Southeast's premier heavy civil contractors, we're looking for an experienced Heavy Highway Superintendent to lead complex transportation and roadway construction projects throughout Georgia.

What You'll Do

• Lead all daily field operations on heavy highway and roadway construction projects.
• Manage crews, subcontractors, and equipment to maximize productivity.

• Professional coordination with Project Managers, Engineers, Surveyors, and project inspectors.
• Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Plan work activities, manpower, equipment, and material needs.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and promote a culture of safety.
• Resolve field issues quickly while maintaining production goals.
• Use of computer to maintain project documentation, daily reports, and production/quantity tracking.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of Heavy Highway Superintendent experience (preferred).
• Proven experience and professionalism managing DOT highway projects.
• Strong understanding of grading, drainage, concrete, paving, utilities, and traffic control.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred.
