Job summary

Silver Creek Construction, Inc. is seeking a Foreman to oversee field crews on airfield, roadway, highway, and heavy highway projects. The role requires travel to projects as needed and offers starting pay of $60,000–$70,000 with per diem and lodging for out-of-town work.

You will train crew members, plan daily activities, supervise 6–8 workers, ensure proper resources, and uphold safety and quality standards to meet owner expectations. A CDL is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 5 years in roadway construction.
  • Minimum 2 years as a Project Foreman or Lead Man.
  • Ability to read and understand project documents (plans, specs, safety sheets).
  • Willingness to travel and work out of town.

Responsibilities

  • Train skilled and unskilled laborers.
  • Plan daily work activities with Superintendent/PM to optimize profitability and methods.
  • Supervise a crew of 6–8 laborers and coordinate with subs.
  • Ensure resources (labor, materials, equipment) are in place for timely completion.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures on site.
  • Review project plans and specs to ensure compliance with owner requirements.
  • Provide daily/weekly safety talks and site follow-up.

Description

As a Foreman, you will be directly responsible for all aspects of a project under the direction of a Superintendent and Project Manager. This includes managing crew of skilled and unskilled laborers to complete daily activities on airfield, roadway, highway, and heavy highway projects. This position requires travel depending on the location of the project.

  • Starting pay $60,000 - $70,000 depending on experience

Duties and Responsibilities Included but not limited to:
  • Training skilled and unskilled laborers
  • Organizes and plans daily work activities with Project Superintendent or Project Manager to ensure the most profitable sequence is followed and to discuss the best means and methods.
  • Manages a crew of 6-8 skilled and non-skilled laborers.
  • Directly supervises and coordinates daily operations with the assistance of the Project Superintendent on assigned projects to ensure that proper resources (labor, material, equipment) are in place for timely completion or work.
  • Assist with supervising subcontractors on assigned projects.
  • Promotes a work environment that complies with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Reviews contract plans, specifications, and project documentation to ensure that the project is completed using the correct specifications, standards and to the satisfaction of the owner.
  • Assumes responsibility of the crews performance as it relates to company and project goals, safety audits, and compliance with policies and procedures. Takes corrective and / or disciplinary actions to address deficiencies and policy violations.
  • Monitors quality of work daily for both company crew and subcontractors.
  • Performs jobsite orientations and mentoring for new crew members
  • Assist with the responsibility for project equipment utilization and maintenance.
  • Coordinates equipment needs with Project Superintendent.
  • Assist with ensuring that all operators are properly trained or qualified.
  • Responsible for completing daily tool box talks and weekly safety meetings to promote a safe work site.
  • Assist with reviews of daily work completed with onsite customer representative.
  • Perform other administrative or field tasks as assigned by Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
Physical Requirements
  • Stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, hammering, rubbing, reaching, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Requires regular lifting of up to 801bs.
  • Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the roadway construction industry
  • A minimum of 2 years as a Project Foreman or Lead Man
  • Familiarity with equipment, materials and methods used in the construction industry.
  • Highway Construction and Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to convey information.
  • Ability to read and understand project specific documents including plans, specifications, material data sheets, safety data sheets, and other pertinent project information.
  • Ability to organize records and prepare work and time reports
  • Ability to understand and efficiently follow directions
  • Ability to work under pressure and within established timelines.
  • Ability to work with management to resolve any issues that arise on a project.
  • Must be knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices
  • Must be accustomed to working outdoors and in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that may require climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending and handling materials, equipment and tools. Must wear appropriate safety equipment as required by company safety policies.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work out of town.
  • Clean Driving History (MVR), must hold a valid driver license, CDL preferred but not required.
  • Must be 18 or older
Work Environment
  • Willingness to travel to all projects (Lodging is provided at the company's expense for all per diem projects)
  • Company vehicle is provided
  • Overtime work is required
  • May be exposed to extremes of hot and cold weather
  • Occasional Night Time duties
