Job summary

Southway Crane & Rigging in Macon, GA is seeking an experienced Heavy Haul Truck Driver to join our team. This full-time role requires a Class A CDL, clean driving record, and ability to operate heavy equipment safely.

You will load and unload cargo, plan long-distance routes, perform inspections, and maintain logs. We offer competitive pay, health benefits, paid vacation, per diem, and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have a current state issued Class A CDL Driver's License.
• 6 months - 1 year experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret, read manuals, and write reports in English.
• Mechanical and analytical skills preferred.
• Ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to provide proper hand signals to crane and truck operators.
• Ability to verbally communicate safety issues to customers and coworkers.
• Ability to work at heights and use PPE for fall protection.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform heavy work.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload cargo.
• Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
• Take orders for new deliveries and drive long distances.
• Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows.
• Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
• Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
• Follow all applicable traffic laws.
• Inspect trailer before and after the trip and record defects.
• Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
• Keep a log of activities.
• Report serious mechanical problems to appropriate personnel.
• Keep truck and equipment clean and in good working order.
