Job summary

Southway Crane & Rigging is seeking an experienced heavy haul truck driver for our Macon branch. The role requires Class A CDL, strong safety focus, and willingness to work long hours and overtime as needed.

The position involves loading, unloading, and hauling cargo over long distances, performing safety checks, and keeping detailed logs. On-site work with a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a current state issued Class A CDL Driver's License.
• 6 months - year experience required.
• Experience with heavy haul or long-distance trucking preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload cargo.
• Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
• Take orders for new deliveries and drive long distances.
• Fuel up, clean truck, and wash windows.
• Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
• Monitor road conditions and traffic congestion.
• Follow all applicable traffic laws.
• Inspect trailer before and after trips and record defects.
• Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
• Keep a log of activities.
• Report serious mechanical problems to appropriate personnel.
• Keep truck and equipment clean and in good working order.

Summary: Candidate must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience. You must be able to pass a background check and drug test. All candidates will perform a skills verification test on site before hire.

• Load and unload cargo.

• Ability to verbally communicate Safety issues to Customers and other workers on location before and during job task.
• Ability to work at heights and use all PPE required for fall protection correctly.
• Ability to employ physiological movements and actions associated with heavy work.
• Bending, stooping, lifting, seeing hearing, walking, ability to lift 75 lbs., twisting, crawling, climbing, squatting, kneeling, sitting and standing.
• Eyesight sufficient for operating a motor vehicle, inspection of equipment, and completion paperwork.
• Hearing sufficient for telephone contact and interpersonal communication with Customers and coworkers.
