Job summary

John Deere Dubuque is seeking a Heavy Equipment Test Mechanic in Dubuque, IA. You will set up, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and operate hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment to conduct tests of agricultural implements and components as part of our product development process.

Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers and customers, diagnosing issues, fabricating parts, recording findings, and supporting the team with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. or NCRC or 3 years of manufacturing work experience.
• Mechanical journeyperson’s card or 4 years of heavy equipment diesel mechanic experience (or equivalent Military experience / training).
• Ability to perform manual tasks for duration of shift (standing, walking, bending, lifting).
• Willingness to work any shift and potential overtime (including weekends).

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and operate hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment to conduct laboratory and field tests of agricultural implements and components.
• Diagnose issues and make necessary repairs and adjustments to complete tests.
• Fabricate parts by cutting, bending, machining, assembling, and welding as needed.
• Record findings and create written reports documenting test conditions, performance, quality, and work performed.
• Disassemble units after tests and check for misalignment and wear.
• Lubricate, add coolant, and clean equipment.
• Assist and support other team members with minimal supervision.
• Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).
• Prepare and load equipment for movement to test site; Test setup on machine; Instrumentation installation.

Education

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)

At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
