Job summary

John Deere Research & Development Center - Silvis is seeking an Engineering Technician to set up, maintain, and test hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment for engineering data collection. You will work with engineers to plan and analyze laboratory and field test processes.

The role requires travel up to 40%, strong hands-on aptitude in mechanical/electrical tasks, and proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office. CDL may be needed; 1st shift is typical.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years hands-on mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Ability and willingness to travel (up to 40%).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL if needed.
• Experience with computers and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and operate hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment to conduct lab and field tests of agricultural implements and components.
• Travel for field testing and reporting – up to 40 percent of the year.
• Work with engineers to plan, develop, implement, and analyze test processes.
• Conduct lab tests and development work at the Silvis, IL site and other North American locations.
• Set up test fixtures, calibrate instruments, and document results.
