Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment. You will diagnose complex systems, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance across the fleet.

The role requires 2 years of heavy-duty maintenance experience or 4 years as an Automotive Technician with the County's Equipment Services Department, plus a valid Arizona driver's license. ADEQ emissions certification within 90 days is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Two years of heavy-duty vehicle maintenance experience, or four years of experience as an Automotive Technician with the Equipment Services Department
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Arizona driver's license by time of hire
• Must obtain ADEQ emission certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and perform complex repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including engine systems, electrical/electronic components, braking, climate control, drivetrain, suspension, and body systems; test for proper operation and estimate repair time and cost
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all vehicles, including oil and filter changes, equipment inspections, and annual inspections on vehicles over 24,000 pounds GVW
• Maintain service records and repair documentation, including work orders and labor estimates, for fleet tracking system
• Promote a safe and compliant work environment by upholding safety standards and reporting hazards to leadership
