Job summary

Republic Services in Indianapolis seeks a Heavy Equipment Technician to maintain and repair heavy and light service equipment, and trucks. The role includes diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and working on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems to keep fleets safe and productive.

The ideal candidate will have ASE certifications, knowledge of Tier 4 emissions, and welding/fabrication skills, with at least one year of heavy equipment experience.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and components.
• Proficient in preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on electrical, hydraulic, and emission systems.
• Knowledge of safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Experience with Tier 4 emissions systems and heavy equipment components.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment.
• Perform PM on electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles and components.
• Read repair orders and communicate with operators and supervisor to clarify defects.
• Document parts usage and track time on work orders.
• Record hours, fuel, and oil usage for fleet management system input.
• Interpret oil sampling and onboard computer data.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
