Job summary

Modern Machinery Co., Inc. is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician in Idaho. You will troubleshoot and repair systems on Komatsu and other lines, with some field work and potential overnight travel. The role requires 2–3+ years in heavy equipment repair, strong problem-solving, and the ability to use diagnostic tools and read schematics.

• Must demonstrate troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and climb ladders, with safety in mind.
• Accurately complete DOT E-Logs and stay compliant with hours of service.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Reliable, honest, strong work ethic.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Able to communicate clearly with customers and coworkers.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Own required tools.
• Willing to travel away from home with short notice.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair systems (electrical, hydraulic, A/C, power train) on Komatsu and other lines.
• Operate equipment as needed to locate and diagnose failures.
• Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Perform diagnostic testing and tuning of equipment.
• Complete and submit work orders and time entries daily.
• Assist other technicians on large repairs or projects.
• Attend training sessions and stay updated on safety rules.
• Most time in shop; some field work with overnight stays and expense management.
