Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician/Mechanic

Position Purpose

Perform quality repairs and maintenance on various brands of equipment, including diagnosing issues, ordering parts, writing technical reports, maintaining company assets, and effective communication.

Essential Functions
  • Support Kirby Smith's vision and core values
  • Perform repairs independently
  • Diagnose and evaluate equipment problems
  • Plan repair methods and sequences
  • Notify management of additional work needs
  • Adhere to safety policies and promote safe work habits
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas
  • Complete paperwork efficiently and attend training sessions
  • Ensure shop equipment is maintained and operational
  • Exhibit professionalism and excellent customer service
  • Maintain reliable attendance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience diagnosing and repairing construction equipment
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Furnish and maintain personal tools and any special tools required
  • Availability for overtime, overnight, and weekend work as needed
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL if required
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and reaching
  • Work in extreme weather and noisy, hazardous environments
  • Perform maintenance tasks for extended periods
  • Follow PPE policies and maintain PPE in good condition
