Job summary

County of Ventura Fire Protection District seeks an entry-level to journey-level technician to inspect, repair, and service gasoline and diesel powered vehicles, construction equipment, and fire engines. The role supports mechanics and documents service activities.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of relevant experience, ASE certifications, and a valid Class A license or willingness to obtain one within 12 months. Overtime and variable shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Some experience in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines and basic vehicle systems.
• ASE certifications in Gasoline Engines, Diesel Engines, and Preventive Maintenance Inspection are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance services on vehicles, construction equipment, and fire engines.
• Replace belts, brakes, filters, and other parts; perform minor repairs.
• Maintain service and repair records and operate necessary equipment.
