Job summary

County of Ventura, CA is seeking an entry-level to journey-level mechanic for maintenance of gasoline and diesel vehicles and fire engines. You will assist mechanics, perform inspections, and keep accurate service records.

Ideal candidates hold ASE certifications or are pursuing them, possess a California Class A license (or are willing to obtain), and work well in a team with strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Some automotive or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• At least two years servicing automobiles or one year servicing heavy construction equipment.
• ASE certifications in Gasoline Engines, Diesel Engines and PMIC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, heavy equipment, and fire engines.
• Replace belts, brakes, filters, and other components and make minor repairs.
• Maintain service records and operate shop/test equipment.
