Job summary

The Town of Prosper, Texas seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator Water/Wastewater to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems. The role operates heavy equipment to install and maintain lines, manholes, lift stations, and meters, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations. Texas CDL and related licenses are required or obtainable within set timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in water/wastewater system maintenance, repair, and/or construction.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of a valid Class A CDL license and/or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
• Possession of a Class II Wastewater Collection license and/or obtain license within one (1) year.
• Possession of a Class C Water Distribution license and/or obtain license within one (1) year.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, mini excavators, large excavators, and dump trucks to install, repair, and maintain water and wastewater lines, manholes, lift stations, and water meters.
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water/wastewater systems and related facilities.
• Ensure safe and efficient equipment use while supporting the reliability of the Town’s utility infrastructure.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid driver’s license

Class A CDL license and/or obtain within six months of employment

Class II Wastewater Collection license and/or obtain within one year

Class C Water Distribution license and/or obtain within one year

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in water/wastewater system maintenance, repair, and/or construction.
