Job summary

The Town of Prosper, Texas, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support water and wastewater systems. You will operate backhoes, skid steers, mini excavators, large excavators, and dump trucks to install, repair, and maintain water and wastewater lines, manholes, lift stations, and water meters.

This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1 year of related experience, a valid driver's license, and licenses including Class A CDL, Class II Wastewater Collection, and Class C

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in water/wastewater system maintenance, repair, and/or construction.
• Valid driver's license.
• Class A CDL license and/or obtain within six months of employment.
• Class II Wastewater Collection license and/or obtain within one year.
• Class C Water Distribution license and/or obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment to install, repair, and maintain water and wastewater lines, manholes, lift stations, and water meters.
• Ensures safe and efficient equipment use while supporting reliability of the Town’s utility infrastructure.

Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in water/wastewater system maintenance, repair, and/or construction.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of a valid Class A CDL license and/or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
• Possession of a Class II Wastewater Collection license and/or obtain license within one (1) year.
• Possession of a Class C Water Distribution license and/or obtain license within one (1) year.

The Heavy Equipment Operator performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s water and wastewater systems and related facilities. The position operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, mini excavators, large excavators, and dump trucks to install, repair, and maintain water lines, wastewater lines, manholes, lift stations, and water meters. The Heavy Equipment Operator ensures safe and efficient equipment use while supporting the reliability of the Town’s utility infrastructure.
