Job summary

City of Winston-Salem seeks an operator to perform intermediate skilled trades, operating heavy equipment to dispose of solid waste at the landfill. Work is done under limited supervision of the Senior Crew Coordinator.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with moderate experience on heavy equipment in a landfill environment. A one-time hard-to-fill sign-on incentive may be available per policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Moderate experience operating heavy equipment in a landfill environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Thorough knowledge of related industry policies, practices, and procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment to place, compact and cover solid waste.
• Performs pre-trip inspections and general maintenance on equipment.
• Performs waste screening and inspections.
