Job summary

The City of Winston-Salem is seeking an intermediate skilled trades worker to transport and dispose of solid waste under limited supervision by the Crew Coordinator. The role includes operating equipment, performing pre-trip inspections, and carrying out maintenance at the landfill site.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and moderate experience in waste collections and landfill operations. Within six months of hire, complete NC SWANA Landfill Operations and OSHA Safety training;

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies.
• General knowledge of standard office software and department specific equipment.
• Ability to perform arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Hauls waste using various medium equipment.
• Performs maintenance duties at lower landfill site.
• Performs pre-trip inspections and maintenance of equipment.
