Job summary

The City of Statesboro is seeking a Senior Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator to operate light and heavy equipment and perform general labor tasks at the landfill. Responsibilities include processing waste with wheel loader, yard jockey, excavator, bulldozer, and compactor, and maintaining grounds and vehicles.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, at least 1 year in a related field, a valid Georgia Class B CDL, and be prepared to complete required background, urinalysis,

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of related experience.
• Valid Georgia Class B Commercial Driver's License.
• Background, urinalysis, and physical examinations as part of pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Operates wheel loader, yard jockey, excavator, bulldozer, and compactor to process waste.
• Maintains landfill grounds and performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Performs litter control and provides assistance to customers.
• Serves on City Emergency Response Team as required.

Job description

The Senior Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator operates light and heavy equipment and performs general laboring duties.

• Operates a wheel loader, yard jockey truck, and trailer to process incoming waste to be hauled by contractor to out-of-county landfill site.

• Operates excavator, wheel loader, bulldozer, and compactor to process inert waste.
• Operates a zero-turn mower and farm tractor/rotary mower to maintain landfill grounds.
• Operates weed eaters, hand blowers, edgers, chemical sprayers, pole saws, etc. to maintain the landfill.
• Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Performs litter control duties.
• Serves on City Emergency Response Team as required.
• Provides direction and assistance to customers.

• High School Diploma or GED;
• One (1) year of experience in a related field;
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
• Valid State of Georgia Class "B" Commercial Driver's License.
