Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Equipment Operator in Hallettsville, TX. The role operates a range of heavy equipment for roadway maintenance, emergency response, and construction support.

You will assist with traffic control, perform PMI inspections, and support emergency operations during severe weather and incidents. Candidates must hold a valid Texas CDL and commit to safety and quality service for the traveling public.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in maintenance and/or construction equipment operation (experience can be substituted by related education).
• Must have a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for equipment operation at time of application.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and delivering quality service to the traveling public.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment for roadway maintenance, emergency response and construction support.
• Assist with traffic control, set up/take down cones and signs, and flag traffic.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and routine servicing on equipment.
• May train other employees on operation and safety procedures.
• Coordinate equipment operations for daily work assignments and support emergency operations.
