Job summary

Hudbay in Arizona is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support the construction and operation of exploration drill pad sites as well as other projects at Copper World and Cactus. The role requires operating backhoes, water trucks, haul trucks and related machinery, with safety as the top priority.

The ideal candidate will hold a High School diploma or GED, be able to obtain Caterpillar certifications, and have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain Caterpillar certifications for backhoe, water truck and haul truck.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move over uneven terrain.
• Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather and long shifts.
• Maintain a drug- and alcohol-free workplace.
• Have reliable transportation to site and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate Heavy equipment to support the construction of exploration drill pad sites.
• Operate Heavy equipment to support the construction of various projects around the site.
• Operate Heavy equipment such as water trucks, haul trucks, backhoe, telehandler, skid steer.
• Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards.
• Work on various small earthwork projects around the site.
• Help maintain and manage the water system on site.
• Help maintain the site facilities and surrounding areas.
• Help with various other projects as needed.
