Job summary

Hudbay Mine Operator I at the Helvetia, AZ site operates heavy equipment to support exploration drill pads and site projects. This full-time role requires safety-conscious operators who can work up to 12-hour shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, 3 years mining experience, 2 years handling heavy machinery for roads/pads, and the ability to gain Caterpillar certifications. MSHA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Three years’ experience in the Mining industry.
  • Two years’ experience operating heavy machinery building roads/ pads /earthwork projects.
  • Ability to achieve Caterpillar certification for operating a backhoe, water truck, and tractor.
  • Ability to operate Heavy Equipment.
  • Ability to work & multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions - temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Can move over uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Maintain a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
  • Have reliable personal transportation to the site location (transportation at the site will be in company vehicles).
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment to support exploration drill pad sites and site projects.
  • Understand changes to work areas and any potential hazards.
  • May perform minor maintenance activities on equipment.
  • Build / Maintain new and existing exploration drill pads throughout site.
  • Work on various small earthwork projects around the site.
  • Work with the training department to help train new operators.
  • Help with various other projects as needed.

Role Accountabilities
  • Operate Heavy equipment to support the construction of exploration drill pad sites
  • Operate Heavy equipment to support the construction of various projects around the site
  • Operate Heavy equipment such as track dozer, water trucks, haul trucks, backhoe, telehandler, skid steer
  • Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards
  • Responsible for understanding equipment components and practices that reduce component damage and wear
  • May perform minor maintenance activities
  • Build / Maintain new and existing exploration drill pads throughout site
  • Work on various small earthwork projects around the site
  • Work with the training department to help train new operators
  • Help with various other projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications And Education
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years’ experience in the Mining industry
