Job summary

Akima Global Logistics (AGL) seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator at Fort Drum, NY to operate and maintain MHE and construction-type machinery in Army equipment turn-in operations, ensuring safe movement of vehicles and materiel at a contractor-managed site.

The role requires reading basic plans, performing PMCS, adhering to Army safety regs, and coordinating with Supply and Transportation teams; must have valid driver's license, CAC eligibility, and ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience operating heavy equipment (military or contractor environment preferred).
• Familiarity with Army equipment turn-in or SSA operations desirable.
• Army safety and supply regulations: AR 710-2, AR 735-5, DA PAM 710-2-1.
• Army maintenance standards: AR 750-1, DA PAM 750-8.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, loaders, cranes, and RTVs.
• Move vehicles, containers, and materiel between staging, inspection, and storage areas.
• Load/unload trucks and trailers in compliance with Army and DOT standards.
• Perform PMCS and report deficiencies; coordinate repairs per TMs and site procedures.
• Maintain operator logs and equipment inspection records.
• Adhere to Army safety regs, ensure proper load securing and safe handling of hazardous materials.
• Work with Supply Technicians and Truck Drivers to ensure smooth equipment movement.
