Job summary

Southland Holdings is seeking local Equipment Operators for a large heavy highway project in West Texas. You will operate Bull Dozer and Excavator/Trackhoe, manage material, and keep daily logs while following strict safety and environmental rules.

The role requires 5+ years of heavy equipment experience in high traffic settings, ability to work in all weather, and the ability to work independently on a schedule. Drug screening is required after an offer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in operation of heavy equipment in high traffic environment.
• Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain.
• Must work in all weather conditions and be prepared for both extreme heat/cold.
• Knowledge of sub-base materials and aggregation placement and compaction.
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures including but not limited to backing up procedures, use of flagmen and spotters, signage, incident reporting, required personal safety equipment and lifting heavy loads.
• Knowledge of underground and overhead services and articulation.
• Must be able to work independently and maintain a schedule of work.
• Knowledge of excavator/backhoe loading requirements; load charts; critical picks.
• Must pass post offer drug screen.

• Identify, report and correct hazards
• Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure all work is done in a manner which enhances safety of the work environment
• Read locate sheets and possible underground and/or overhead utilities
