Job summary

Martin Marietta seeks an Equipment Operator II to safely operate multiple types of heavy mobile equipment and support the extraction, transport, and processing of raw materials. You will maintain site infrastructure, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot to maximize uptime.

You will train junior operators, ensure adherence to MSHA regulations, and coordinate with site Supervisors to optimize production flows in a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
• Technical training and vocational certification is preferred.
• 1+ years of relevant experience operating Heavy Equipment in an Aggregate, Construction, or Mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment to transport raw materials from the pit to the plant at max loading capacity.
• Adjust equipment settings using SOPs to maximize throughput and minimize cycle times.
• Coordinate equipment positioning to support site supervisors in optimizing production flows.
• Ensure cargo is properly loaded per safety requirements to prevent spills and maintain truck stability.
• Adhere to MSHA safety rules and Guardian Angel programs.
• Maintain quarry integrity: haul roads, berms, loading areas safe and compliant.
• Facilitate safe site traffic with CB radio or hand signals.
• Identify and report site hazards such as unstable highwalls or loose material.
• Conduct daily inspections of vehicle systems and document findings.
• Perform daily PMs: greasing, checking oil/diesel/coolant.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform minor repairs; report major failures.
• Assist maintenance with plant repairs during shutdowns.
• Train co-workers in safe operation and site protocols.
• Provide operational support across plant areas.
• Communicate professionally with Operators, Supervisors, and customers.
