Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, is seeking a Heavy Equipment & Grounds Maintenance Technician. The role combines operating heavy machinery (dump trucks, water trucks, tractors) with general labor to support sanctuary operations.

The position requires a valid CDL and medical card, with training to obtain CDL if not currently held within 6 months. Expect a Monday–Friday schedule, on-call responsibilities, and an onsite interview.

Qualifications

• Heavy equipment operating skills and experience preferred.
• Candidate must have a valid CDL and medical card.
• If CDL not held, must qualify for one within 6 months; training provided.
• Valid license for at least 3 years; eligibility for Best Friends insurance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Dig trenches, snow removal, fence repair, and other heavy-lift tasks.
• Complete work orders timely and work with the group.
• Operate, service, and maintain tools and equipment.
• Perform general labor and other duties as assigned.
