Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, UT is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator and Grounds Maintenance role. The position combines operating heavy equipment with grounds maintenance duties at the sanctuary.

Location is Kanab, with relocation assistance possible. Hiring range is $20 to $23.20 per hour plus benefits, schedule Mon-Fri 7 am-4 pm; on-call may be required. Onsite interview required.

Qualifications

• Heavy equipment operating skills and experience preferred.
• CDL license and medical card required; if not held, qualify within 6 months with training.
• Valid driver's license for at least 3 years and eligibility for company insurance.
• Advanced knowledge of methods, tools, and practices in heavy equipment operations.
• Positive, energetic, and initiative-driven attitude.
• Ability to follow oral/written instructions and read manuals.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Digs trenches, removes snow, tears down buildings and other heavy equipment tasks.
• Complete assigned work orders with team coordination.
• Operates, services, cleans, and maintains tools and equipment.
• Performs various physical labor as needed.
• Repairs and installs new fencing.
• Maintain a safe workplace and report unsafe conditions.
• Limited travel up to 5%.
