Job summary

S&B USA Construction in the Portsmouth, Virginia area is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman to lead storm drainage and earthwork on major projects. You will safely operate dozers, excavators, and skid steers, supervise crews, and uphold safety, quality, and schedule on site.

Three years of field experience, a valid driver’s license, ability to pass a drug test, and willingness to work Saturdays required.

Responsibilities

• Safely and skillfully operate equipment including dozers, excavators and skid steers.

• Lead excavation and benching crews.
• Operate excavators and dozers to strip topsoil and bench fill material.

Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman

Responsibilities

• Safely and skillfully operate various equipment including dozers, excavators and skid steers.
• Maintain equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventative maintenance and repair tasks.
• Perform tasks in a safe and accident-free manner.
• Running storm drainage pipe crews and installing storm systems to meet project specification tolerances.
• Running excavation and benching crews.
• Operating excavators and dozers to strip topsoil and bench in fill material.

Requirements

• Three years of experience required, running storm drainage pipe crews.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving history.
• Experience operating various equipment including dozers, excavators and skid steers.
• Applicant must be able to pass drug test.
• The position location is in the Portsmouth, Virginia area.
• Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
• Workers must have reliable transportation.
• Saturdays are required periodically as needed.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
• Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
• Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

Physical Demands

• Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
