We’re looking to add a Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman to our team, please read below for the details of the position. Applicants should have experience with excavation, trenching, pipe setting and loading trucks.

Responsibilities:

• Safely and skillfully operate various equipment including dozers, excavators and skid steers.
• Maintain equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventative maintenance and repair tasks.
• Perform tasks in a safe and accident-free manner.
• Running storm drainage pipe crews and installing storm systems to meet project specification tolerances
• Running excavation and benching crews
• Operating excavators and dozers to strip topsoil and bench in fill material

Requirements:

• Three years of experience required, running storm drainage pipe crews.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving history
• Experience operating various equipment including dozers, excavators and skid steers.
• Applicant must be able to pass drug test.
• The position location is in the Portsmouth, Virginia area
• Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
• Workers must provide their own safety footwear
• Workers must have reliable transportation
• Saturdays are required periodically as needed

Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
• Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
• Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

Physical Demands:

• Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
• Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment.
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
