Job description

We are looking for a heavy equipment operator with at least 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment. We seek a candidate willing to step into a leadership role and grow, not necessarily with all the knowledge but with the willingness to learn and develop.

We are a small, growing excavation contractor based out of South Weber, Davis County.

Occasional overtime may be required depending on workload. Our projects are typically located in Davis, Salt Lake, or Weber County, with occasional jobs in Summit, Wasatch, or Cache County. Benefits include voluntary dental insurance starting the month after 30 days of employment, 5 days of PTO, and 6 paid holidays. We also offer a $300 boot allowance after 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate equipment to complete assigned jobs within the designated time frame.
• Prepare daily timecards with multiple tasks, machines, and employees, each itemized separately.
• Read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Identify hazards associated with tasks and ask questions for clarification.
• Direct laborers to assist in completing jobs.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
• Perform safety checks of the job site and equipment.
• Perform basic maintenance and lubrication.
• Review staking/Blue Stakes.
• Install utilities for commercial and residential projects.
• Prepare for subgrade, footings, and flatwork.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Must be able to show proof of age over 18, identity, and right to work in the US.
• Pass a drug screening.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Familiarity with operation and minor maintenance of excavation equipment.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to take orders and follow directions.
• Ability to learn and retain information daily.
• Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs and perform stooping, kneeling, and digging.
• Strong work ethic and drug-free.
