Job summary

The Town of Cohasset is actively seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Recycling Transfer Facility to support daily solid waste and recycling operations with safe, efficient use of heavy equipment. The role focuses on operating equipment, performing inspections and maintenance, and completing related labor tasks to ensure compliant, smooth facility operations.

A valid Class B CDL is required; Class A is preferred for advanced licensing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of technical or vocational training with heavy equipment experience.
• Valid DOT medical card and Class B CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (e.g., front-end loader, backhoe, sweeper) in support of public works and recycling.
• Support solid waste operations, including recycling, landfill, and baling processes.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and safety checks on equipment.
• Assist with field operations and general labor tasks as needed to support daily operations.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following safety procedures and performing duties as assigned.
