Position Scope
NACG is seeking EXCAVATOR OPERATORS to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is an opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.
NACG offers a combined rate of up to $58.16/hour and room for growth!
Where You’ll Be Working
- Site: Kearl
- Schedule: 14 x 14, 12-hour days and nights (paid for 11.5 hours). 14 days on, 14 off. 14 nights on, 14 off.
- Accommodations: Camp accommodation provided.
- Transportation: Flights to and from Edmonton or Calgary, bus service from Fort McMurray to site.
- Overtime: Currently at Kearl, blended rates with no overtime.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate various sizes and models of excavators to complete assigned work
- Read stakes and set grades as needed
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, standards, and procedures
- Use appropriate safety equipment, including PPE
- Review safe work plans and hazard assessments before starting work
- Conduct equipment and area walk-arounds, safety checks, and risk assessments
- Report repairs, incidents, near misses, or damages immediately
Qualifications
What Makes You the ONE
- 2-3 years of experience operating excavators (870 or larger)
- Experience in a mining environment preferred
- Ability to work in a production setting
- Ability to excavate ditch slopes and grade
- Follow safety instructions diligently
- Safety-first attitude
- Attentive with strong listening skills
- High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education (asset)
- Proficient in English, both verbal and written
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

What's Next
If selected for the next stage, you will need to:
- Provide a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and recent Driver’s Abstract
- Hold valid CSO and Wildlife Awareness tickets (Kearl only), obtained through Energy Safety Canada
- Be subject to random testing at Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills, and Kearl sites
- Complete pre-employment tests: breath alcohol, urine drug, fitness-to-work, audiometric, and vision screening
After dispatch, the process includes:
- Scheduling pre-employment testing with NACG
- Receiving and completing new hire paperwork
- Scheduling orientation and confirming start date after results and paperwork are processed
