Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling in Dayton, Ohio, is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators to safely operate bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and related heavy equipment on our waste and recycling sites.

You will perform inspections, routine maintenance, and on-site duties while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety. Willingness to work nights and weekends, along with passing required tests for certification, is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., excavator, backhoe, dozer, off-road truck).
• Must pass written and operational tests to be certified to operate each piece of heavy equipment.
• Hazardous waste management training within six months of employment or reassignment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently (bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, loaders, trucks).
• Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections and maintain equipment.
• Conduct routine maintenance (lubrication, fueling, cleaning).
• Assist with site preparation, earth moving, landscaping, snow removal as needed.
• Maintain professionalism with customers and coworkers.
