Job summary

Ironwood Heavy Highway, LLC is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator - Civil Construction to run heavy machinery on construction, demolition, or excavation projects in New York. Pay ranges from $25 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities include digging trenches, preparing sites, and operating backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, rollers, and skid steers. Must be able to work evenings/weekends as needed and perform routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent beneficial.
• Vocational school training or apprenticeship beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans related to structural concrete and land grades.

Responsibilities

• Excavate for underground utility installations including conduit, storm and sanitary sewer lines, and water main.
• Operate construction equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, bulldozers, rollers, and skid steer loaders.
• Prepare construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
• Use excavating machinery to dig holes and trenches for structural concrete.
• Transport tools and equipment to and from construction sites.
• Prepare exterior site concrete areas like parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and loading docks.
• Operate machinery used to build bridges, roads, and railroads.
• Inspect and fuel vehicles before each shift; perform routine maintenance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Heavy Equipment Operator - Civil Construction will operate heavy machinery for construction, demolition, or excavation projects. Pay for this position is $25 - $35 /hr based on experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform excavation for underground utility installation including conduit, storm pipe, sanitary sewer pipe and water main.
• Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including backhoes, off road trucks, front-end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, rollers, or skid steer loaders.
• Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
• Uses excavating machinery to dig holes and trenches used in structural concrete.
• Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites.
• Uses equipment to prepare building sites for exterior site concrete such as parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and loading docks.
• Operates machinery used to build bridges, roads, and railroads.
• Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift.
• Performs routine maintenance such as greasing and minor repairs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
• Ability to read building plans related to structural concrete and land grades.
• Excellent mechanical skills.
• Ability to follow instructions.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent beneficial but not required.
• Vocational school training or apprenticeship beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
• Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
